Devil May Care

This board was designed in 2015 by Chas Bogan for Carnivalia. German die cast decorations from the early 20th century celebrating themes of Halloween were the inspiration for this talking board. The devil figure central to this composition has long been a favorite of mine, and I was glad to finally find a project to place him in. A crow, a cat, and trio of bats lend their own spooky energy, along with long nosed moons. The limited color palate for this piece keeps it unified, utilizing just black, orange, lime and cream. Elements from vintage postcards and circus ephemera frame and embellish the parchment background.

This is a quality artisan product, and all elements, from its unique design to its planchette, are handcrafted at Carnivalia’s studio by artist Chas Bogan. Its wooden board measures nineteen by thirteen inches. The underlying image is protected by layers of clear varnish, creating a smooth finish that is ideal for easy movements of the planchette and will protect your board for generations as your relationship to this heirloom matures. It comes with a planchette in the style pictured above.

The watermark for Carnivalia does not appear on the product, but is featured here to protect the image from theft.
